Insurance is often considered a poor bet for the player and a good one for the house. This option comes when the dealer has an Ace for an up card. The “insurance” bet is whether the dealer has a 10 for the hole card. If this is the case, the dealer has 21 and will pay insurance bets at 2 to 1 odds.
