A caller says the number as it is pulled from a drum or basket that contains the numbered balls.
The player must listen carefully and mark or cover the number on a card if it is there.
Winning involves covering a complete line of numbers, a pattern or in some cases a “blackout” or “cover all” in which all 25 spaces are covered.

If a player achieves the designated line or pattern he or she should call out “bingo.” The numbers are checked and verified by the host or assistant before the player is declared a winner. In live bingo parlors or halls, the prizes can range from small gifts to amounts of cash designated for each game.

Online rules usually call for each player to be given three or four cards. These are generally assigned to the player randomly. In live bingo halls, players often have the chance to choose their cards. While some online bingo games may have a “caller” others have a display board. If two or more players call bingo, and each is verified as correct, the prize is split evenly between the winning players. While this is not so crucial with bingo online, a player should always be attentive and mark numbers quickly in order to be ready for the next number called.
